United Way Supporters Enjoy Fun and Fellowship at 16th Annual Golf Tournament

SAVANNAH, GA (June 2, 2008) – The sun finally broke through the clouds to welcome United Way supporters as they took to the greens during the 16th Annual United Way Golf Tournament at Savannah Quarters Golf Club. Each year, the golf tournament is instrumental in jump-starting the United Way fundraising campaign, as it builds awareness of the community based programs and agencies that United Way supports throughout its four county communities.

“Generous United Way supporters, corporate partners and friends enabled us to have another successful golf tournament to raise funds for the United Way to provide services to help others better their lives” notes Rex Cress, United Way’s Golf Tournament Chair. In total, this year’s tournament raised over $23,000 in proceeds to benefit the United Way.

A record number of golf teams joined together to enjoy an afternoon of fun competition and camaraderie during the tournament. Prizes were awarded to Top 3 Teams and Low Gross, 18 hole challenge winners, as well as an Eagle Chance drawing and Prize Raffle.

Special thanks go to Carrabba’s Italian Grill for providing lunches for the golfers, as well as AirTran Airways, Colony Bank, Compass Prints, Friedman’s Fine Art, Savannah Coca-cola, Savannah Harbor Golf Course, Savannah Marriott Riverfront, Savannah Quarters Golf Course, Savannah Mall, Southbridge Golf Course, Savannah DeSoto Hilton, Lady & Sons, and a number of other local businesses for generously donating prizes for winning participants.
