Support Nonprofit Programs

Education, financial stability, and health are the building blocks of strong children, stable families, and a vibrant community. We partner with local nonprofit organizations that we strongly believe address those issues. The collective partnership and investment process is called the Community Fund.

The Community Fund is how we invest local dollars in our community to address local needs. Funding decisions are made through a competitive application process. By leveraging donor dollars with our capacity-building grant process, we ensure the greatest return on investment for our donors, nonprofit partners, and those whose lives we improve together.

In 2021, United Way invested more than $3.36 million in 86 programs across 54 nonprofit agencies in Bryan, Chatham, Effingham, and Liberty counties creating a vital network of support and services.

Provide Direct Assistance

United Way operates offices in Bryan, Effingham, and Liberty counties. These community service centers directly provide local health and human services that do not often exist in smaller communities. Beyond basic emergency relief services, they also provide backpacks for weekend food distribution to children in need, mobile food pantries, and volunteer opportunities for agencies supported by United Way.

Connect volunteers to causes
that strengthen our community

We connect individuals, families, corporations, and community groups to service opportunities in our area to create a positive impact for the people and for our community as a whole.

Opportunities range from feeding the homeless to tutoring virtually, from cleaning up a playground to meeting regularly with older adults for socialization. All efforts are welcomed.
