What is it
The Savannah Affordable Housing Fund, Community Housing Services Agency, and United Way of the Coastal Empire are partnering to assist renters within Savannah city limits in need of rental, security and/or utility deposit assistance necessary to rent a dwelling or short-term assistance necessary to avoid being evicted from a dwelling.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant must be a City of Savannah or Chatham County resident for at least 6 months
- Residence must be located within the city limits of Savannah
- Applicant must be currently employed or have sustainable monthly income
- Applicant must have gross annual household income that is no greater than $52,000 or 80% of the Area Median Income based on household size.
- Applicant must be at risk of being displaced with verifiable documentation:
- Dispossessory warrant, eviction notice, utility deposit statement, landlord letter, or other documentation that includes the client’s current residence
Required Documentation
- Completed Intake Form
- Proof of Identity
- Government-issued ID: State Driver’s License, ID Card, U.S. Military ID Card, or Passport
- Proof of Residency in the City of Savannah/Chatham County
- Valid Government ID or Driver’s License
- Proof of 6 Months Residency
- Bank statements, paystubs, or other acceptable documentation
- At-Risk of Displacement or Homelessness(Choose one):
- Eviction notice or dispossessory warrant
- Past due rent and/or utility notices
- Homelessness verification form
- Rental Unit Location within City of Savannah
- Lease agreement signed by applicant and landlord including address and rent amount
- Proof of household income
- Unemployment compensation statement (required)
- Paystubs or other wage statements (required)
- Other benefit income: TANF, Social Security, child support, retirement, VA income, etc. (optional)
- Letter or attestation from employer (optional)
