Born and raised in Garden City, GA, Kay Ford currently serves as the Chairman of BankSouth’s advisory board for the Savannah market, where she further promotes the bank’s commitment to serving the Savannah community. In addition, she serves on the fiduciary board of BankSouth and was formerly the Chief Banking Officer serving the bank’s markets throughout the state.
The former President and CEO of SunTrust Bank, Savannah, Ford retired after 41 years at SunTrust, where she held numerous senior-level positions within retail banking and private wealth management, including Senior Vice President of Private Wealth Management. She is a graduate of Leadership Savannah and Leadership Georgia. She is the Chair of the Savannah Technical College Foundation Board and Chair-elect for the Savannah Economic Development Authority.
Throughout her career, Ford has also served on a wide range of community-driven boards of directors. These include United Way of the Coastal Empire, where she served as the 2016 Campaign Chair; the Memorial Health Foundation of Memorial Health Medical Center; the Savannah Fund for Excellence in Education; St. Mary’s Home; and the Housing Authority of Savannah, where she served as Chair.
In addition to her community service, Ford served on the Savannah Chatham Board of Education and Garden City’s City Council.
Ford and her husband, Bob, have three children: Poppy Brown and Jaime Miller, who reside in Pooler, GA, and their son, Robert Ford, a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force currently stationed in Florida. Together, they have seven wonderful grandchildren.
