Why plan for Legacy Giving?
Legacy Giving is the promise of future support to United Way through a bequest of property, stock, life insurance benefit, or a trust. Donors can contribute to United Way’s Endowment Fund, which will enable us to create an ever-increasing impact in our community.
All donors who commit to a planned gift will be included as members of the Legacy Giving Society.
Your gift is more valuable than the amount.
In 1955, Herschel V. Jenkins, one of the founding members of United Way of the Coastal Empire, quietly created a $500,000 trust for our organization. By design, it remained undisclosed until it reached a set milestone in 1997.
Since then, the income from that one fund helps cover day-to-day operations. This means that when you give to United Way of the Coastal Empire today, more of your donation goes directly to supporting people and programs in our community, rather than covering operating costs.
Our community owes a tremendous debt of gratitude to Herschel V. Jenkins because of his philanthropic foresight.
We invite you to contribute to that same legacy.

Gift Acceptance Policy
United Way of the Coastal Empire welcomes charitable gifts that advance our mission to improve lives and strengthen communities. Gifts may be accepted in many forms, including cash, securities, and planned gifts. All gifts are reviewed to ensure they align with our mission, respect donor intent, and can be responsibly stewarded. UWCE encourages donors to consult their own professional advisors when considering charitable gifts.
