UNITED WAY RECEIVES $5,000 FROM CARESOURCE

SAVANNAH, GA (April 7, 2020) – CareSource, a leading multi-state managed care plan, has donated $5,000 to the United Way of the Coastal Empire in an effort to help support local individuals and families impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. This donation will be used to help residents of Bryan, Chatham, Effingham, and Liberty counties retain stable housing by assisting with rent, mortgage and utility payments when grace periods are not offered. The donation will provide financial assistance for additional critical needs such as medical expenses and child care.

“Thousands of people have been impacted by this crisis, and our United Way is meeting it head-on at home, helping those disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 and the economic consequences of the outbreak,” stated Brynn Grant, President and CEO of United Way of the Coastal Empire. “These funds will provide critical support for our work to improve the lives of our neighbors who are managing this crisis throughout our great community.”

As part of its focus on Social Determinants of Health, CareSource is committed to strong partnerships with leading community-based organizations that will help manage this public health crisis.

On March 24th, United Way activated the COVID-19 Rapid Response Fund and released $80,000 to assist vulnerable populations, including families and individuals facing the loss of income due to business and school closures and children lacking access to school meals. Through the 211 call center and community service centers in Bryan, Effingham, and Liberty Counties, United Way is connecting citizens with resources that can help them.
