SAVANNAH, GA (December 16, 2024)– The Chatham County Hospital Authority (CCHA) Trust is proud to…
Stacey Johnson has been an employee for United Way of the Coastal Empire for nearly half of its history. This year marks her 30th anniversary as a United Way staff member. Over time, Stacey has been a witness to countless challenges and victories. She has served our community alongside many unforgettable faces—bringing hope to residents all across the region. Stacey is committed to the success of our people, so much so that she dedicates her hard work and her funds to the cause.
On a search for new beginnings, Stacey arrived to Savannah, Georgia—where she was encouraged by her sister, a previous Ambassador for United Way of the Coastal Empire, to apply for an open position. Weeks later, she had been hired on as an Administrator of the Community Investments Department. She was thrilled. Stacey had always desired to be more involved in her community, and she soon learned that United Way was the best fit for her intentions.
“The people of the community have kept me here. I knew how much United Way would be able to help them, and I wanted to be part of it,” said Stacy.
Her enthusiasm did not stop there. She was further inspired by the needs of her community to gift a percentage of her wages to United Way. 30 years later, she is still giving to United Way.
“It feels great to give,” said Stacey. “I look around and I see people who are hungry, and I can surely say that the money I give helps them.”
Stacey’s awesome contributions have impacted the lives of thousands of families. Throughout her experience with United Way she has had the opportunity to assist our residents in the roles of CI Administrator, Executive Assistant to the CEO, and now, Account Associate. With each new role came new responsibilities and more knowledge about the community. She grew to thoroughly understand the needs of the people, as well as all the ways that they benefit from our assistance. “I’ve always been passionate about the people around me. Anyone could need help. So, if you have it, the best thing to do is give.” Stacey found this to be evident in this last year, in which numerous people from different backgrounds have fallen on hard times. Nevertheless, Stacey has remained consistent in her giving. Janeen Johnson, Stacey’s daughter and our current IT Director, deems her mother as a great example of compassion.
“The love and the respect that she has for people, regardless of who they are, is incredible. When she sees someone in need of help, she does what she can. And she never thinks twice about it. That’s how we are as a family,” said Janeen.
At United Way, our goal is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities to advance the greater good. Stacey continuously succeeds at doing so, in her ability to project her best self for the sake of others. The CFO of United Way of the Coastal Empire, Mandy Parsons, speaks highly of Stacy’s work ethic.
“Her knowledge and her willingness to step outside of her comfort zone are so admirable. She’s always open to change, which allows her to excel at what she does…Stacey is not here for a job. Stacey is here because this is what she’s been called to do. Her loyal contributions confirm that,” said Mandy.
Stacey is truly remarkable. Her service is reputable, and our community will prosper from her actions for many years to come. We are so grateful that you have chosen us to make your mark on the world. Thank you, Stacey, for 30 years of living UNITED.
